Freedom of Information Act Request

Under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, public documents may be made available upon request.  If you would like to request a City document, please click on one of the links below to submit a FOIA request form.  Your request will be processed and you will receive a response within 5 business days.  In some cases, the City may take an additional 10 days to process your request.  You will receive notification if this should occur.  If you have any questions, please contact our office at 517-264-4815.

Cost:

The cost of each request varies.  Cost is based on several things, such as materials, postage, and the amount of time it takes for the lowest paid employee capable of doing the work to process the request.  If you are indigent or receive public assistance, the first $20 of the fee will be waived.  If your request is going to cost more than $50.00, the City will require a deposit equal to half of the estimated cost before we can proceed.

Redaction and/or Denial of a Request:

If your FOIA request is denied in whole or in part, you will receive written notification with an explanation for the denial.
